Many people remember Frank James when he spoke on behalf of the families during the search and rescue in December 2006. In addition to being Kelly’s brother, Frank is a preacher, a professor of theology and the president of a theological seminary. He has written “Balm for Broken Hearts,” in hopes that it will bring comfort to those who are also suffering.

MercyMe’s hit song “Hold Fast” comforted Karen when she returned from the mountain after learning the tragic news of Kelly’s death. The song’s lyrics inspired her to hold fast.
